๐ฒ๐ฝ Old Town Showdown at El Borrego
The Ultimate Foodie Showdown
Orlando foodies duked it out at El Borrego in Old Town USA at the heart of Kissimmee. Hosted by Chef David alongside Jesslyn of @OrlandoFoodieGirl, the influencers competed in several food challenges that incorporated El Borregoโs authentic Mexican cuisine. This includes a six-pound burrito-eating contest, an exotic taco-eating challenge, and a longest cheese pull race. I participated in the exotic taco eating challenge to see what flavors these Mexican bites had in store. Let the games begin.
Six-Pound Burrito-Eating Contest
To ingest a six-pound burrito is a glorious feat. Kasey, @jubjubrsx on Instagram, devoured the monster burrito the quickest and was awarded first place. Watching him quickly annihilate the seemingly-impossible burrito made my stomach uneasy!
Longest Cheese Pull Race
The gooey cheese at El Borrego looked heavenly as it stretched higher than imaginable. Tiffany, @bytiffanynguyen on Instagram and TastyChomps writer, reigned champion as her cheese pull was long enough for her to stand on the table!
Exotic Taco - Uno
Grasshoppers and Crickets were a focal ingredient for an avocado taco in the exotic taco-eating challenge. The crunch of these critters were a strange experience, though similar to the crunch of peanuts. They added an unfamiliar texture to the avocado, but I managed to scarf it down.
Exotic Taco - Dos
It was my first time eating Silk Worm tacos. I noticed the mushy texture and strange earthy flavor the worms added to the mushroom. Luckily, the tacos were well-seasoned, so I was able to stomach the peculiar flavor.
This Mexican eateryโs meals harbor authentic flavors with strong seasoning. Their margaritas are yummy, alongside Jarritos soft drinks that provide that classic Mexican vibe. With menu items like Elote Street Corn, their Hispanic cuisine is truly bold.
Chef David, alongside the friendly staff, provided amazing hospitality. Seeing fellow Instagram foodies participate together is a fun experience that allowed us to combine food and fun. This Eat-ful Event allowed us to play with our food and try new things. Iโll be back to this eatery in Old Town USA!
