🐟 Killer Bowls at Kona Poké
“We’ve had a good reception in the Lake Mary area so far!” says Megan, whose worked for Kona Poké for over a year. This island bowl shop is tucked in the northern Orlando metropolitan area, serving poke bowls in mainland fashion.
This eatery has introduced a few Lake Mary locals to Hawaiian-inspired bites. The fast-casual service makes poke bowls less intimidating for locals who haven’t tried it before. Take a peek at our eats!
🍣 Salmon Lover
This bowl features diced salmon alongside cucumber slices and edamame for freshness. The spicy seaweed salad holds a bright magenta color, a fun alternative to regular wakame. The bowl is topped with crispy onions for texture and a drizzle of lemon tartare that held a slight tang.
🔥 Kona Fire
This fresh ahi tuna bowl is drizzled with classic Hawaiian sauce and topped with green onion. The sriracha aioli is comparable to spicy mayo, while the sesame seeds and onion crisps provide aslight crunch. The tuna is served alongside wakame and a scoop of avocado.
🍗 Chicken
For locals who aren’t familiar with eating raw fish, the shop serves non-poke bowls that satisfy alternative diet preferences. This includes a bourbon chicken bowl, composed of cooked chicken drenched in a brown sugar savory sauce, atop a bed of white rice.
🍡 Mochi
Mochi is a cold dessert, so they may not survive a longer car ride in hot Florida (illustrated in the photo above of the melting confections). The dessert is a Japanese rice cake filled with cold, flavored ice cream. When cut in half, the ice cream is more prone to melting; something to consider when taking out.
The poke shop strives to be inclusive of diet preferences, offering vegetarian and keto menu options. From raw fish to bourbon chicken, everyone will find a bowl that they’re satisfied with when eating out with a group of people.
Amanda, who has worked alongside Megan for over a year, assures that guest preferences can be accommodated: “Give us a try, we’ve got something for everyone!”
